« A “Point
of a pact”, Thomas
Thomas plays with fire or rather with firearms, for 25 years; he uses weapons as brushes. In 1987 he proposed a pact to make weapons become tools of creation: to learn to weapons to be a tool of creation and not of destruction. Thomas knows how to keep his distances in front of this creative moment, because it is the projectile which will register in the material a permanent mark, then he will approach and apply, as to take care over an injury, the golden sheet on the wound. The alchemical process of transmutation will transform the violence of the impact into a work of art, the lead into gold. These points of impact, or “Points of a pact” as Thomas names them, with time became it’s own signature, elementary particles with which he begins to build a new universal language. First of all he learns to write words by using the coding of Telex, then, to go in the deepest of the material, he will create geometrical structures by arranging these points of energy as atoms of carbon in a crystal of diamond. The “Point d’un Pacte” (“Point of a pact”) leads all the symbol of his action, it is at the same time a sign of recognition of a group having the same hope in the change of the use of weapons. |
